Huge hesitation, mechanically inclined. Please help

If the traction control system is activating the brakes (your post about seeing pressure from the bleeders), shouldn't you focus your troubleshooting in that area. I have been watching your logical process, you have pretty well covered the engine related components. Building a new motor will...

    Spark plug help

In all likelihood, you will need to install a "helicoil" insert after removing the spark plug. Many times, the threads are damaged, so a special drill and steel spring insert is used to provide a new threaded hole for the spark plug. Another reason for removing the head. Machine shops are...

    Spark plug help

Aluminum heads have always had this shortcoming (and other problems). The high heat in combustion chambers causes the threads to bind to the spark plug. You should remove the heads, before removing the broken spark plugs, so that no pieces are left in the cylinder. Those pieces can end up...

Torque converter failure $3898 repair quote

A flush will not work. When the valve body (the device that controls the hydraulics in the transmission), the clutch pistons, the gears and bearings, the torque convertor and pump etc. get contaminated with particles, there is no way a flush is going to clean out all of those little passageways...

    valve chatter after oil change.

I suggest you replace the oil filter with another well known brand. That is cheaper than the oil. If that doesn't work, change the oil to the type of oil in the owners manual. Is it possible that the oil pressure sending unit is reading high? Noisy valves are an indicator of something wrong. I...

2004 yukon won't start after engine swap

Using jumper cables on a weak battery may not provide enough power to crank an engine. Replace battery with a new battery or one from another vehicle.

    Troubled 03 yukon

^^^^^^^What he said. The first thought I had was ignition wiring. Most of the folks on this and many other forums are very helpful, but we need a more exact description about type of engine, list of parts replaced and troubleshooting steps, instead of "everything except the cpm".

    05 yukon won't start

The breaker bar and socket on the crank pulley may be quicker to determine if there is a bind. Another (unlikely) cause of binding is failure of the vibration dampener which resides behind the main crankshaft pulley. I do agree that the most likely cause is hydrolocked engine. It only takes one...

    Just noticed this...

Lighting, whether automotive or residential is sensitive to voltage drop. Power supplies in electronic devices have regulators that compensate for voltage drop in the power supply, before the juice gets to the rest of the audio or other device. That is why you don't see any change in your...

2004 yukon won't start after engine swap

To clarify: the engine does or does not crank with the starter? If the engine cranks, but does not start, then there are different causes. How long has the vehicle been out of service? Could there be a corroded ground connection under the hood? All wiring connections to the frame and body...

    valve chatter after oil change.

Valve chatter can be caused by oil additives. Have you been using any additives in the past? They are often thicker or have chemicals that can accumulate in small passages (like in valve lifters, or lash adjusters). An oil change can cause accumulated stuff to move into a position that blocks...

    5.3L Connecting Rods.

It gets expensive if you guess wrong. You are smart to find out the right answer. Rods don't like pistons kissing the valves.

    4x4 going into neutral

Replace the encoder/actuator on the transfer case. This is the most common cause of this kind of problem. When you replace it, check for corrosion/evidence of water in the electrical connector. Light amount of grease on the rubber seal of the connector when reassembling. It is not cheap, but...

So to clarify: did that module actually fix the no start problem? I am confused!

very loose wobbly driver side stub shaft.

You guys have it figured out-there should be very little wiggle (technical term) on that shaft coming out of the differential. The bearing assembly is not very stout, so it is not surprising that it wears over time. It is more common to have more wear in the AWD trucks than in the 4WD versions...

    Rear diff axle bearing failures

You don't say how many kms on the odometer, but assuming a lot, you could drain the differential, change out the axle seals and bearings. That eliminates a part that takes a lot of side load when turning. They are probably close to needing to be replaced. Sometimes you just have to go with what...

2003 Yukon NO COLD AIR (I'M MELTING)

If the clutch goes out, it can damage the front bearing on the compressor from excess heat and take out the seal. This will cause a leak and the compressor will not run until the freon is at minimum pressure to satisfy the low pressure switch (after finding location of leak).

    Rear grinding sound driver side

If you are brave, support vehicle on jack-stands, lay under and check each wheel location with a stethoscope when another person runs vehicle slowly in forward gear in 4WD.

    5.3 Rough Cold Start

Thanks for the update. The info helps the rest of us have an idea what to check. The coolant temp sensor and intake air sensor have an impact at start up as well. During the starting sequence the PCM bypasses the O2 sensors, due to low exhaust temps on start-up. Did you have codes/check engine...

    PCM issue?

You can have a battery cable that has corrosion inside a crimp connection. I have found bad cables several times over the years when batteries and alternators have been replaced with no success (much like your situation).

    Maybe trans? Maybe not

Owner manuals all have both normal and severe service intervals for transmission service. I do not recall any auto manufacturer recommending not servicing trannies.

    Overheating and no heat

Yes it is likely that corrosion has damaged the metal piece. It is fair to say that these type of connections on a vehicle of any brand are not the most reliable. Fuel lines with o-rings are famous for leaking liquid on the pressure side, and allowing air to be sucked in if the fuel pump is...

    Spark Plug change

I don't like the fancy spark plugs. GM designed these engines using their plugs. Use something similar to OEM.
